Ground Morning Glory
Convolvulus mauritanicus
Ground Morning Glory is a charming, low-growing, evergreen perennial prized for its long season of soft, lavender-blue, funnel-shaped flowers and its tidy, mounding habit. Native to the Mediterranean, this excellent drought-tolerant ground cover forms a dense mat of small, fuzzy, gray-green, lance-shaped leaves that remain attractive year-round . From late spring through summer, and often into fall, it is covered with a profusion of small, morning glory-like flowers in a soft, cool lavender-blue with a delicate white center . A well-behaved, non-invasive relative of the common morning glory, it is an outstanding choice for cascading over walls, spilling from containers, or creating a colorful, weed-suppressing carpet in sunny, well-drained gardens.
